When I first heard the news of this suite I assumed that it would use PRC Tools in combination with CDT. However, the above-mentioned press release says that "the Palm OS Developer Suite is a new tool chain from PalmSource Inc." Anyone have more info on this?

The new tool chain means precisely that. A new C/C++ compiler sitting underneath Eclipse. ...

I've also heard the the tool chain will produce binaries for all versions of the OS when coupled with the appropriate SDK (68K, 68K+ARM, ARM only, and up through OS 6).

The Palm OS Developer Suite is a combination of development tools: it uses the standard gcc and gdb for developing x86 applications and PNOs for use in PalmSim, prc-tools for 68K application development, and new tools for ARM development. [1]

prc-eclipse.

Don't equate the two too closely, however! Right now, doing that is about the same as equating the letter 'a' to the complete works of Christopher Marlowe^W^W William Shakespeare. :-)

[1] Actually, we had to extend both the stock gdb as well as m68k-palmos-gdb in order to get them to fit our needs, so we're not exactly using standard tools.
