> i'd die without vi :) Source code editors have moved on just slightly since then. In fact, as I recall, they moved on pretty sharpish **because** of vi :-)
> you dont need huge convoluted makefiles. :) I don't need them at all unless I use prc-tools/gcc. Makefiles aren't large for Palm apps almost by definition, I suppose. But they still strike me as primitive and old-fashioned. I sort of expect to have to edit them in green text on a black background <vbg> > heh.. maybe true for win32 and other platforms; but, not always for palm. Nah, it's a language thing. Pascal compilers don't use makefiles - there is no need. The only possible thing to have in them is compiler/linker options, and you don't need a makefile for that. > it takes around 300mb of drive space, but you get everything.. None of which I want. I just want to build a Palm app. I'll have to live with the primitive language, the need for makefiles with special characters in them, the lack of proper editors and source level debuggers and so on. But what advantage is cygwin to someone who does **not** want to use the command line? It's not clear to me what a complete install of cygwin will do to things I've already installed either. > ssh and telnet from the command line.. *drool*. And you probably like programming in assembler as well, don't you :-) Cheers, Jim Cooper _______________________________________________ Jim Cooper [EMAIL PROTECTED] Falafel Software http://www.falafelsoft.co.uk _______________________________________________ -- For information on using the Palm Developer Forums, or to unsubscribe, please see http://www.palmos.com/dev/support/forums/
