Is PODS (Eclipse) is the only way for developing application in Version 6?

No. You can use existing versions of CodeWarrior, prc-tools, etc. to build a 68k application which can continue to run in 6.x just like it did in 5.x and 4.x.

However, to write a Palm OS Protein application (meaning a native one using all the new features, able to create threads, etc.) then you need to switch compilers. We provide that new compiler as part of PODS. (Well, it is much more than just a compiler; I'm generalizing.)

So if you don't directly use any new APIs, you can stay in the 68k world and keep using your existing tools.

Other tools vendors could well provide versions of their tools which create Protein applications which use new 6.x functionality. I can't say anything about their unannounced plans.
