Are you saying you have one of the simulators (_not_ emulator) installed, and that you ran it separately from the PODS IDE, (without PODS even running) and got the same message? If you are only getting the error from within the PODS IDE, try going to (top menu) Window->Preferences->Palm OS Development-> Target Environment Settings, and checking all of those settings. Especially the one for "Palm OS Garnet 5.4" simulator, and make sure you have that installed (IIRC, it's part of the PODS standard installation, but it's also available as a separate download from PalmSource). Also, try looking through the email list archives: http://www.palmos.com/dev/support/forums/archive.html Also, there is this that I found a minute ago by doing a Google Groups search: http://groups.google.com/group/comp.sys.palmtops.pilot/browse_thread/thread/aa638ccec5fe0bcd/ba735ebc7a731ba2?lnk=st&q=%22Unable+to+launch+Target+Environment%22&rnum=1#ba735ebc7a731ba2 And of course, try a Google Web search on your error message, "Unable to launch Target Environment". Other people who have run into the same problem have solved it, It is a commonly-reported problem here. But, there seem to be different root causes for the same error message. Thing is, I vaguely recall seeing the error here once a long time ago, when I was first getting started, and I don't remember what I did to fix it. Some people seem to have reported that it is related to the firewall when trying to run from PODS, and others say it has to do with a file (netstat.exe) in the International version of Windows XP. In that case, some have had success by copying that file over from a U.S. version of XP. Another thing you might try is a different simulator. There are different models available from PalmSource's developer program website, and Palm's PluggedIn program. Try starting one of the Palm simulators standalone, using the right-click popup menu to install your .prc application "database". If/when you do get it to work, please report back and say how.
