I don't generally use scoring tools, I never can get the tool to
follow the line.
I simply fold along the edge of the coffee table in front of me.
The coffee table is formica with a sharp Straight edge.
(After 8 years of use, the edge is as sharp as the day the Formica was
shot.)
For long, large folds, I simply remove the laptop from the coffee
table.
For really small or exteremely curved parts I use my thumbnail to
start the score
and help the fold along with a pair of twissors.
A rubber band at the top of the twissors also converts it into a
remarkably precise,
easy to use tool for holding together small parts as the glue dries.

For projects away from home I take along a short length of Unfinished
2 by 4 to clamp to any convenient table.
The unfinished wood has a sharp, square edge and can be re"sharpened"
and squared with a trim pass through a table saw. Or just grab another
unfinished 2 by 4.
