May be you didn't have an original M$ CD, but a minimum is that you
have the M$ product key glued to the pc. This shows the correct
license. Then mostly if there is no cd from microsoft (you know:
CD's are expensive and M$ has not very much money!) you should have
a way to recover your system if anything happens: may be a recovery
cd from the producer of the computer or some installation files on
the hard disk. After you buy such a computer it is strongly recommended
to put those installation files on a cd by yourself (always remember:
CD's are expensiven and M$ hat not ... ;) ). With these two "information
sources" you can reinstall the OS on nearly every "hardware" (vmware,
virtual box, virtual pc and so on), as long ... as long ... as long ...
... THIS RUBBISH BULLSHIT OF A HUGE MASS OF RANDOM NUMBERS ISN'T
BIOS LOCKED OR LOCKED TO A SINGLE VENDOR!!!
OK, that's the story so far.
Have a nice day and best regards, Wolfgang
