California is 770 miles (1,240 km) long and 250 miles (400 km)wide with
a land area of 163,696 sq mi (423,970 km²). One entire side is on the
Pacific Ocean. the population estimate as of 2008 was 36,756,700
(considerably under the actual population) Our state economy is
approximately equal to that of Italia. With a place so large housing
prices vary from almost reasonable ($7500) to absurd (3.5 million) for a
1 bedroom house. Here in the Los Angeles area (Southern Cal) a 2 bedroom
in a decent neighbourhood averages about $500,000 and is slightly more
in the Bay Area. Population of Los Angeles is estimated at 3.8 million
(actual pop is closer to 4.6 million) and San Fransisco (major city in
the Bay Area) is 809,000 (this seems wrong to me since SF is not all
that smaller than LA from what I have seen).

                                                                cat
