You can get lead BB's from www.pyramydair.com, made by GAMO of Spain.
They still move unless you add glue. I use modeling clay to weight
the noses of the airplanes I build that fly on the end of a string. I
have not seen any staining, but beware of oil based clays. You could
also use water based caulking, just don't get carried away and deform
the parts.
