Already doing it, Mandy. Just trying to figure out how to pay for it. One
friend of mine was suggesting buying a netbook and stripping out all the free
trial software to improve the operational speed, but I don't think it's the
answer for me. Just checked the local Wal-Mart, and they have a decent
eMachines PC for $400 (USD) but that's like a full week's salary for me right
now, and worse, it's Windows 7, and I'm more than leery after using our
Vista-equipped laptop (which is also currently on the fritz.) BTW what are the
odds that my laptop's power supply could have failed? I plug it into the
computer and the power connection doesn't light up like it should.

  Paul,

Hate to be the harbinger of bad news, but I think you need to seriously look
at buying an new machine very soon.

Good luck with restoring everything - and yes, system restore can (and
sometimes does) delete everything in your My documents folder.. That's why I
turn my restore off. It's not a complete copy of windows, only the settings and
a small few small exe files.

  Toodles!

Well, after going through hell figuring out my wife's video input problem,
my own PC decided to have a seizure of its own today. It shutdown
unexpectedly, and would NOT reboot until I did a system restore. Now I have to
figure out how to redo all of my backed-up files, and put them back where they
belong. Not to mention trying to remember how Windows, IE and Outlook all
worked 4 years ago. Sheesh!
