I've had good results with multiple coats of Krylon Crystal Clear.
It's promoted as a paper sealer. You can find it at hobby stores.
Walmart also carries it. There's Krylon Triple Thick Crystal Clear,
which I've just started using. I haven't tried multiple coats. One
coat makes my models sturdy without making them glossy.
