I have been doing a bit of research. Type in the brand name and add "printer
customer complaints,"
did that for Epson and was directed to:

For years I have been beating to death an HP OfficeJet G85. Last year it
started printing a partial page every now and then, and the frequency has
increased. I am betting the new printers have improved quality but there are
quite a few customer complaints found on the Internet by using the "HP Printer
Customer Complaints."
We also have an Epson RX580 with which my son is pleased.
