The way I look at it, when looking at midrange printer units only (not
multifunctions), I would pay a bit more and get a good HP machine. Espon and
HP are owned by the same company now (like HP and Compaq), but canon is
slowly catching up.

Personally, I own a brother A3 multifunction that does an OK job. (good for
just "fun" stuff) - a HP Laser jet (colour) that I rarely use due to costs,
but it does a fantastically wicked print job, a HP designjet large format
that I am in love with (after all, it's a specially designed photo printer
that orginally cost over $4k au) and my work multifunction is a Canon fax
etc.

I also like what Jayo said - take something with you to compare. :)   But HP
is my preference. :) I also have a HP 5550 that I used for years - until I
started collecting the others. LOLOLOL
