I understood the issue to be the coating on the paper. The coating on the paper must have sufficient porosity for the ink to penetrate through to the paper beneath the surface.
That can be solved by changing the ink to one with smaller color particles, or change to a paper wither greater porosity. You cannot change the ink without changing the printer so change the paper. I have had paper that simply would not take the ink at all to paper that would appear to never dry. I changed papers several times. Ilford works for me. From: [email protected] [mailto:[email protected]] On Behalf Of Bribrack Sent: Sunday, October 23, 2011 10:29 AM To: [email protected] Subject: [Papermodels II 45859] Which paper to use. I'm fairly new to the paper modeling hobby. I've built some sci-fi, one 1/72 and two 1/32 aircraft and one 1/18 car. All of these I've built from card stock. Recently, I decided to step it up and try assembling on photo paper but didn't have very good results. I have an HP Deskjet 5440 photo printer and was using HP glossy photo paper. My issue was that even after about a day, even though the ink was dry to the touch, it still came off just from the slightest touch like paper moving on top of it of accidently with a fingertip. Needless to say, I've become quite dissappointed with this type of assembly as it isn't as much fun. My question is, for cars, is there a safe spray gloss finish I can apply after assembly?
