Dear Seroke,

NB: don't forget the second part of Sobukwe's documentary today at 9 pm

I was extremely thrilled that the SABC has put Mangaliso Sobukwe where he
belongs. Before the screening of the first part of his documentary, I had sent
some text messages to friends and acquaintances to inform them that the man he
had changed the history of Azania was to be honered in an hour documentary.
Guess what ? on Sunday, at church, many people, some of whom who had never
heard of Sobukwe were extremely impressed by his potency. Remarkably, one of
them kept on reciting the reproduction of the documentary saying " we are here
to get arrested, because we don't have our passes" . I was even impressed as
one of my brothers who had never had an interest in politics remarked that "
the ANC is unfair, according to what we learn, Sharpeville belongs to the PAC"
he continued " why celebrate the Freedom Charter which was itself responsible
for the schism that ensured in the late 50's". I believe that we are at times
myopic, failing to be astute. F W De klerk once averred that "the PAC is the
most dangerous organization in South Africa". This negated some unsound critics
such as Credo Muthwa who branded us as exclusivists in his work ' let not my
country die'. We have had some glittering accolades from such scholars as Tom
Lodge, Gail Gerhard to just mention the few. It is unfortunate that we have not
as yet risen above infighting and rivalry. Personalizing power which ensured
scuffles in exile continues to be the currency of the PAC even to this day. let
us not rest upon our laurels. We will triumph because we have history on or
side. Lastly, my fear is that from now leading to the congress, I have a fear
that we may fall in to the same trap of electing leadership that does not like
democratic centralism. We are like the Democratic Republic of Congo, a country
with the richest mineral recourses in Sub Saharan Africa, but a collapsed
nation-state which has never enjoyed democracy. We have impressive ideology,
but we a party that has a failed leadership after Mangaliso Sobukwe.

Mduduzi

I realise the widespread lack of information and knowledge, even among some of
our own comrades, which leads others to speak out of turn, sometimes
misrepresenting facts and appearing dull and dour when subjects they are
supposed to be familiar with are discussed in the open. We should admit that
we sometimes encourage mediocrity by keeping silent when a correction or
additional information on facts would provide a stable answer. Information is
often hidden and made inaccessible. Deliberately so, I must admit. Collecting
information and knowledge is a continuous affair and our members and followers
must learn this habit and stick to it all for the rest of their lives. In
politics, those who are ignorant and misinformed tend to make wrong remarks and
poor decisions. Those who are blinkered will take a wrong path and believe
(out of poor coordinates) they are going to the desired destination. Just like
a group of sheep who will fall over a cliff and die because they are following
blindly every which way their leader goes. In the PAC Basic Documents we
clearly discourage our members from becoming cannon fodder. Cannon fodder is
much like useful idiots, who fail to think.

Why do I say this? I was impressed with the level of enquiry and the pursuit
of knowledge by PASMA delegates as they deliberated on pertinent issues at
their national general council in Mpumalanga over the weekend. Students are a
good starting point in acquring knowledge. We in the Pan Africanist Research
Institute (PARI) aim to raise the standard and quality of debates and
discussions within the Party so that we can as a movement ultimately reclaim
our dignity and status as true freedom fighters, in the way we handle ourselves
and interact with the people on issues that affect them. We must not only be
known as quarrelsome characters, autocratic despots and personal empire
builders, lousy and pathetic organisers, and even as selfish destroyers of the
national political legacy of the founders of the PAC(A). We must transform
ourselves and change, M'afrika.

Please note the works of Kevin Harris in
www.youtube.com/user/KHExperience/feed<http://www.youtube.com/user/KHExperience/feed>
on a range of struggle issues. Particularly the documentaries on Robert
Sobukwe, viz., "Remember Africa ...Remember Sobukwe". There is an interview
with the late Dr Fabian Ribeiro of Mamelodi who was murdered with his wife (Mrs
Veronica Sobukwe's younger sister) in 1986 by Ferdi Barnard's killer squad.
Take note too of the documentaries on John and Ellen Mothopeng going to Robben
Island prison in 1982 to visit Uncle Zeph, and of the Soweto String Quartet who
were taught music at Uncle Zeph's house. These are not distortions and
fabrications. Facts, nothing but facts.

We will win.

Jaki

Seroke and Ndebele

I hope everything is well with you. assuming that you watched the documentary
that was screened on SABC 1 about Robert Sobukwe. I was indeed thrilled with
the comments from interviewees more especially from the longest-serving
apartheid minister Pik Botha who admitted that the whole Africa wanted to
negotiate with Sobukwe other than Mandela. I was somewhat amazed that
Ka-Platjie has some interest of writing about PAC or its heroes, as it is said
that writing some book about Sobukwe. This contradicts with his master , Jacob
Zuma, who averted mentioning the name of Sobukwe at Kliptown. A more pathetic
twaddle came from Fikile Mbalula who said " this day, is not a PAC day". I fail
to understand why we don't organize our own rally at Sharpeville.
