Ying,

Your co-worker probably has an email in his inbox outlining that you have
made a request to access that SID and what to do about it. I think it's a
"first come, first served" thing: my co-worker got to SID A before I did and
therefore, he claimed ownership.

I think there was/is a disconnect between what you could do prior to 12/10 and
what the system thinks you can do now. Good thing John Horne on this list
pointed out the possibility or else I'd still be wondering what was wrong.

Thanks Scott. I am not listed at all. Weird, I was able to open cases and
download patches just fine before. It should at least have my name listed.
Anyway, my coworker who is listed as only administrator is on a one-month
vacation. I think that I have to call Oracle to have it changed.

Yes. 119254-78 and 125555-08 are the two patches that I was able to download.

Thanks

Ying

Ying,

Does it show you as the administrator or someone else? I have 2 SIDs to
choose from: "A" had a coworker listed as the admin and "B" had me listed as
the admin. I first tried A but it said "pending" so I tried "B" and that
worked.

Look in the "Account and Privileges" tab under Settings in the "Administrators"
column for a given SID. Click on "View...": is your username listed and are
you logged in as that username? Possibly a dumb question but I had to ask.

I talked to the co-worker in question and he had to log in and accept me as
another user on the A SID. I first showed up as a "user" and he did something
to "promote" me to an admin.

Since my experience with B was that it automatically made me an admin, I'm
guessing that your SID listed someone else as the admin. That person should
get an email stating that you are requesting access to this SID.

You might also try completely logging out and back in just to see if that makes
any difference.

Let me guess: the two patches you could download were 119254-78 and 125555-08?
That misled me: I thought my account setup must be correct if I was able to
download 2 patches. I was wrong.

For me, I entered support ID this morning, but the status still shows pending
request. I clicked "contact us" and went through a bunch of questions, but at
the end, it said that I need valid support ID to submit request. It is very
frustrating. I was able to download two patches, other gave service error or
patch not found.

Thanks

For me, the problem was, at the very least, my MOS account not having my
Support ID entered [although how did I get my MOS credentials initially if I
didn't already fill that info in?]. Once I fixed that, patches started flowing
like wine.

And how [hic], I have to [hic] patch another server...

We believe the issue is resolved.  Is anyone seeing any entitlement issues were
they believe they should have access, or they are seeing inconsistent behaviour
with downloads sometimes allowed, sometimes rejected.

Thanks
Mike

Mike Brown said the following on 12/13/2010 2:50 PM:
The download server issues are under investigation.  Some actions have been put
in place to alleviate the problems, but there still may be occasional
unanticipated failures.  We apologize for any inconvenience.
