Warning ! This is a long post, but I felt it had to be said. (I guess
it's the Mom/Grandma side of me coming out)
No "it's not that hard to do", but you seem to forget that occasionally
there are people who are posting for the first time, not to just this
list but to any list !! Like me for example. I replied to the first
message in the thread "9500 Update" instead of the last so that all the
other messages wouldn't be quoted. But in doing so I forgot about the
footers. Rest assured that Dan (the List mom) is doing his job
administering the list so no one else need waste valuable time doing so.
He doesn't admonish by posting to the list. Those of you who never make
mistakes may not know it but Dan sends a friendly - emphasis on friendly
- personal e-mail to the offender gently reminding him/her to quote only
those things that are pertinent. His private e-mail avoids
embarrassment, hurt feelings, and possibly prevents people from leaving
the list or never posting again for fear of being publicly chastised
for making an error.
I've been an observer to this list for almost a year (learning a great
deal I might add) but since I'm not very techno-savvy I've been
reluctant to post for fear of asking a "stupid" question and believe me,
I am not timid nor stupid. I finally got up enough nerve to post and
what happens ? -- some unfeeling person(s) decides he/she should be
doing Dan's job.
One further note, if everyone started their messages above the quotes,
unlike the replies below (and yes, the quotes are intentionally left
in), no one would have to scroll forever to get to the reply; thus,
saving time. "It's really not that hard to do". Now can we get back to
discussions about Macs ?
Cheers !
PS: Parts of the following messages were edited because I have the
"sense to do so".
