my 9600 has an xlr8 g3 cpu upgrade. do your comments still apply? i was
aiming for a 60mhz bus speed.

interestingly, the thing that most destabilizes the beast is allowing the
xlr8 control panel to automatically set the backside cache speed to 280mhz,
or so, whatever, it thinks that the mac "might" run reliably at this speed.
when i started keeping this lower, around 220mhz, it became very stable, and
i was able to increase the ram-to-cpu speed.

Where did you get a 59.5 MHz osc? I have a 9500/120 that I upped to a 50
MHz osc (thanks to a 385 DX25) that works very well and stable at 150 MHz.
I have wanted to play around with going a little higher, will the 604/120
take a 55 or 59 MHz Osc?

Thanks!
Thomas Martin

And for reference, my PowerMac 9500 is running a 59.5MHz bus speed.
