Ralph....

I can't say that FreePPP is necessarily *more* stable, but I have been using
FreePPP since OS 7.5 and now with 8.6 being my fav, (can't get used to 9.1!) I
stay connected for days before a server slowdown forces me to shut down and
reconnect.  If you are sure it's not your ISP (like aol!  :))  ), FreePPP seems
to work great at staying connected with the prefs set correctly.....
