I don't think it's a matter of the application being more stable, but that
the modem init string is more effective.
There is a commercial application, the name of which I can't remember, that
claims to provide better inits than ARA, resulting in faster and more stable
connections. I'd be curious to know if anyone here has found this program to
be worth the money.
