Now I feel a **little** better, I have kept AOL for 4 years after I have
cable. But I get it for Only $4.95 a month.
Although even that is getting to be too much. I have almost cancelled it a
few times lately but just never have the time.
They shut down all the Chat rooms I frequented (i.e. "Myst", you know the
game) because they were not sponsored even though always busy, no one I care
about uses my AOL e-mail address anymore except the hundreds of spammers,
and the service/community has deteriorated greatly!
The last straw was when I recently called because AOL (1st time in years)
because on my PowerBook AOL would frequently get a message that the account
was not valid upon SignOn, but would work a few min's later. They quickly
solved the problem but then said if I wanted a $25 $$ credit I could get it
and to please hold on.
I was SO pleased!! A company that was actually going to refund my money
because their software was a LITTLE bit buggy, and the amount credited was
equal to 5 months of service,
DAMN they were generous!!!!!!!!
I waited on hold listening to sales offer after offer for ** 20+ minutes **,
when a person finally picked up, they proceeded to try and sell me some
"incredible" offer which in exchange for I would get $25 off my AOL bill.
I FLIPPED and tried to cancel my service right then, but they were just a
marketing company.
I still haven't gotten around to canceling the service (its less than I
spend most days in soda, for a whole month) BUT I would NEVER advise anyone
to sign up with them.
I CAN'T believe a company would take a customer that called in for a Problem
to be subjected to a long hold time and then some marketing pitch!!! I don't
know anyone that will tolerate those calls at any time, and to subject a
customer to them, especially one that just had a problem, That's
UNACCEPTABLE !!!!
I actually don't pray for their demise since they are the only company that
has a chance at defeating Microsoft. I just hope that once they have caused
Microsoft to be relegated to a minority position, that the government breaks
them up into a bunch of "Baby AOL's" and Steve Case's punishment is to live
covered with flies in some grass hut in the third world with Bill Gates.
I cant believe I just wrote that, Damn I must be evil.
But not even close to AOL or Micro$oft.
