Flicker,
I don't think you told us whether or not the Mac booted correctly BEFORE you tried
doing the reformat. Did it?

You mentioned that "the Apple Setup didn't want to do the intialization...". Did you
try using a newer version, at least v1.7.3 of Drive Setup?

What happens if you unplug the SCSI and power cables from the drive?

Can you start up on a floppy or CD then? If not, then something else is preventing
startup besides the hard drive.

Can you hear the drive spin up when you attempt to start up on it?

You're trying all of this with ALL other devices DISCONNECTED, right?

Do you have a copy of FWB ToolKit? I've come across some older drives that would not
format and run correctly unless I used FWB. I think their database of hard drive may
be more extensive than a lot of other formatting tools. I used to use APS PowerTools
religiously, and SilverLining, FWB, and Drive Setup sometimes. In the past few years
I've stuck with Apple's Drive Setup and when necessary FWB Toolkit.

I've been through similar situations, and can relate to your frustration.
Keep trying and good luck!
Let us know how it's going.
Mike Ripca

Right, but it is not loading (Silverlining). There is nothing beyond the
gray screen, the arrow, then FREEZE. And why wouldn't the CD-ROM or floppy
or an external SCSI drive load if I use them (with the appropriate command
key combos where relevent)?
