Max Apple Daughtercard was 233MHz. PowerComputing released a 250MHz
model and I have seen some Powerlogix cards rated at 275MHz. All
these cards will fit into your 8500. I recently bought a 200MHz card
on eBay for US$16 - I would deem this as being reasonable.

8500's will happily accept either FPM or EDO. Just make sure the EDO
RAM you are buying is 5v and not 3.3v

Max out the RAM (8 x 128Mb = 1Gb)
Max out the Cache (1Mb)
Install the 2 cards mentioned below, maybe consider a USB/Firewire
combo card - with only 3 PCI slots, this is preferable.

Depends what you want the Mac to do. These 2nd Generation PowerMacs
are still very capable machines. Expansion capabilities are good and
quite economical.

Have Fun!!!
