Power-less Mac 8500

I got several great suggestions:

 I've had this problem with my 8500, ended up being a loose connection from
 the power cable to the drive, would boot up then shut down again, or just
 not even boot up.Try another power and scsi cable if your HD bays are not
 full.Even check the connection at the drive for a loose connection, might
 have a bad power plug at your drive end.

 Have you made sure you fully reseated the DIMMs, processor card, and
 any other removable after replacing the battery?

  Did you zap the PRAM?
  Also, does not hurt to reset the cuda switch.

 If you are very careful, with a small Maglite and a long bamboo
 skewer, you can reach the cuda switch without removing any cards.

and

 Have you made sure you fully reseated the DIMMs, processor card, and
 any other removable after replacing the battery? The genuine Apple
 daughtercards are a bear to get into the slot, much of the time, and
 the DIMMs pop up more often than toaster pastry in a working mother's
 kitchen.

I took all the assorted advises (above)( taking the motherboard loose to be certain. . . .

Now it won't even come on :-(

I'll try any more suggestions in the morning.
