I've had this problem with my 8500, ended up being a loose connection from the power cable to the drive, would boot up then shut down again, or just not even boot up.Try another power and scsi cable if your HD bays are not full.Even check the connection at the drive for a loose connection, might have a bad power plug at your drive end.
