Alabama considers that the purchaser is actually liable for the sales tax
payable to the State for anything purchased outside the state. They collect
hundreds of thousands of dollars voluntary from purchasers. If you pay a
sales tax in the State in which you purchased it there is no additional tax.
But inforcement is almost impossible. It would be interesting to see if the
company actually did remit the sales tax collected to the State the purchaser
resides.
