Exactly what I found when I replaced the dying Teac 16x drive in my mother's PowerCenter Pro with the 8424--it won't boot from that drive for anything!! And I'm very used to using the 4 finger salute as well....
May have to swap drives with her, as she needs a bootable drive, and my Yamaha 6416 IS bootable (the OEM 24x drive is still in place in my PowerTower Pro for emergency booting). Guess I'll just have to put up with the extra speed......
