I have the identical machine and 9.1 runs perfectly from the 1gb hard
drive - occupies about 240mb the way I have it set up.  I had a similar
problem when trying to use the CD from my powwerbook on an old 6200 -
that was an os 8.?  disc though. I was led to believe at the time that
the CD's can be made for specific machine groups, but whether that
actually is the case I dont know. Both my pb and the 7600 now run os 9.1
from a cd purchased from an apple shop rather than "borrowed" from
another machine.
