I was experiencing similar problems on my 8500/132. I tried the same clean reinstall since my drive is a 3rd party. No good . Similar problems as yours popped up. I used an external drive to run Norton's and a comparison check with TechTools Pro. When I upgraded memory and stopped using Virtual Memory, I failed to think to check for drive fragmentation. There in lay my problem. It's crusing along at high altitude now. my system: 8500 132 MHZ 256 MB mem 2 & 4 GB HD's OS 9.1 Andrew J.
