in my neck of the woods all rural phon lines only seem to support speeds up to 28k. I live in a town with some 16,000 people or so we have no dsl or cable for internet but we are in the process of laying fiber optic cable, to your door. This project is taking forever as on may guess so I bit the bullet and went wireless. I am spending 80 dollars a month for a 256k up and down conection. a little pricy but if you can afford it and if your home is in the line of site this is the option for the country folk. My equipment is directional so I could suposedly get up to 30 miles from the antenna.
