Since my main machine is a PC, I'm trying to stay on a budget while I upgrade my PowerMac 7600/233. I'd like to get a CD-R installed, but I'm waffling over whether to get an old internal or more expensive external scsi model.
What's the deal with "non-mac" CD-ROMs? I've heard you can't boot from them, but I never boot from the CD anyway. Would it be possible to buy a cheap, recordable CD drive and just keep the old Macintosh drive in storage for the rare situation when I need to boot from a CD? BTW, the drive I'm looking at is an old Smart & Friendly 2006 4x writeable. Thanks! Ben Austin -- PCI-PowerMacs is sponsored by <http://lowendmac.com/> and...
