I really like my Yamaha 6416 external SCSI drive. I have found the stock internal
CD drive is good to have if you want to do CD copies. You should be able to find
a used or refurbished External Yamaha SCSI 6416 drive on eBay for just over $100
as I just got a refurbished 8424 for $140. SCSI will be faster and should work on
any older mac with SCSI. Also with the external drive you don't have to have
power going to it unless you are burning something. Mine sits powered off most of
the time, no doubt extending the life span of the drive.
