Should be no problem, I have used JVC and Philips non-Apple cd burners with my 8200 and also various non-Apple cd-rom drives without any serious problems. I cannot speak for the IDE Macs, but with the SCSI Macs it is usually just a matter of getting a 3rd party driver or 'hacking' the apple one (works fine for me). Ben.
