Hi--
I see that fans and such have been discussed
here before. I want to ask your advice though about
where, or whether, to add one in the case to cool the
drive??
Here's the setup: 7600 with Sonnet G3/450, three
PCI cards (RageOrion 128 video, Keyspan 4port serial,
OrangeMicro FW+SCSI U2W).
There's a 4 gig Quantum drive in the lower bay,
18 gig Quantum Atlas 10K in the top bay. Now that I
have the big drive running faster off the SCSI card,
it seems to get pretty warm.
Metronome says the processor is 27C, and this
stays the same no matter how long the computer has
been running. But, the stock fan sounds like it's
laboring a bit, especially on warm days. Would it
help to put in another fan, and if so, where, how much,
and which direction to blow?
I was thinking, Dremel out some vent holes in
the front of the case and put a fan there to blow
over the drives toward the back--is this advisable
or useful? Your input is appreciated.
Thanks,
Anna
