Hi all,
As long as I know there were at least two incarnations of the 7500, one of those was the infamous VAL-4. I have owned a VAL-4 logic board based 7500 and it has been the most stable, least fussy computer I have ever owned, and I owned a lot of Macs. It would accept RAM that would crash or even prevent from booting an 8600/200 a PTPro/200 and later a 9600/350. And it would run with it for days w/o a crash. Here is the P/N: 820-0564-09 VAL-4 I do not recollect, at present, why VAL-4 mobo's were despised, but I am sure someone here on the list will probably remember it (Kyle? are you around?) ... I have only a vague recollection that it was something to do with faster processors and/or G3 upgrades, mine ran happily with a 200MHz 604e for over 1 and 1/2 years. Sadly the 7500 is leaving tomorrow as I just sold it on eBay, but I already have a 9600/350 and a Desktop G3 working full time and another 9600/350 which is soon going off to eBay, but it is working as a CD burner right now (what a waste ...)
