The following message set me to thinking again about something that has
confused me for a while.

Well, not everything is identical... RAM slots, VRAM slots, and PCI
Slots are different.

Let's get a little less nit-picky here.
Of course the mobos are different, otherwise they wouldn't have
8600s (3 PCI
slots, full A-V, including builtin video) and 9600s (6 PCI slots,
no A-V at
all, and no builtin video at all) as separate products. ))
ANYWAY, my query has always been how to tell between a 7500 and 7600.
My machine was a 7200/75 but it went kaput. So I have the mobo
changed. I asked the guy what the new board was from. He said he
wasn't sure, a 7500 or 7600. Now, after some investigation, I have come
to the conclusion that the two are the same. However, I have always
found this odd, cos if it's so, why have two different models of machine
at all?
So, is there a diffrenence between the two machine motherboards and if
so what is it? If not, why have two different machines at all.
Just was a wondering.
