Yea, thanks guys. It's all too easy for advisers to have jumped to conclusions as to the source of their own troubles and then to pass on those conclusions that may have even been coloured by a third party's innacurate diagnosis. That's like the same kind of compounding of system troubles that leads one to choose the wrong principle culprit in the conflict rather than blaming the lack of harmony between them. I still have Disklight blinking away in my Quads and had I not found it useful or even vaguely suspected it I would have removed it long ago. I mentioned earlier that my '95 froze on boot up while Disklight was blinking away, the HD icon had just mounted and here's the key that's made me wiser for the next time. . . the DATE AND TIME then FREEZE. Of the two files controling the Date and Time, only one was active and that was the source of my trouble. >From now on I'm going to focus on what was loading at the freeze and I should have remembered that from Conflict Catcher's pin-pointing of problematic startup files in my Quads.
