Robert -

1. Yes, the BUS will go from 40mhz to 50mhz, if it was not already
there.
   -- If the original CPU speed divides only by 40 the BUS is 40, if
divides by 50 and 40 then
      the BUS is 50.


2. On an 8500 the DIMM memory is 60-70ns, on newer DIMMs the speed is
8-10ns which
   is much faster. (Lots of memory is always better:-)
   -- my G3-400 significantly increased the thruput on the 8500/120 box.


3. G4 question, I don't know. (Can anyone answer this?)

4. IDE can be "faster" than SCSI, but SCSI is generally recognized to be
a far superior
   overall performer.

5. ATA, I don't know.  (Can anyone answer this?)
