I find OS X very wonky when it comes to burning CD's via a Firewire burner. I have an external SkyDATA 8X4X24 Firewriter on my B&W G3 and burning disks via X is coaster city (and I'm using Toast 5.x for OS X!). I have more success burning data, but when it comes to music cd's it just doesn't work (it always gives me an error) and this holds true as well when using iTunes. I just switch back to OS 9 whenever I need to burn disks; I just have more success using it.
