Most initializers will not let you "low level format" an EIDE/UATA drive.
I have had to do this ONLY in that case of a total "farkle up" by FWB's HDT,
after which time I completely documented the failure to FWB's Tech Support,
and then forever abandoned FWB's software.
FWB never got back with me, and AFAIK FWB never fixed the problem ...
although they did spam me with deals to upgrade my version of HDT to the next
level.

FWB's HDT is "shelfware" as far as I am concerned. Total cr*p.
If Drive Setup { insert your favorite version here } will not initialize a
drive, I won't use that drive ... under any circumstances.
