Why didn't I think to double click the rascal?
Never had a scrapbook file sitting in my HD window before I guess. . .
although I've exported my full scrapbooks to other computers.

First time for everything once again.

Actually, one has only to drag the desired pattern to the
appropriate open Appearance panel pane - in 8.6 at least.
