Keep the Belkin card. 
4USB port cards  are less reliable than the 2 port cards. 
Get a powered USB hub, which supplies additional ports. 
Avoid Firewire till you are sure you need it.
Do get a G3 card. 
Consider the XLR8 G3 cards, 
which have the reputation of being the best.
I use OWC nonEDO ram in my 7600, t
though lots of folks say the EDO is ok. 
Do get 4 sticks of 128MB.

BTW, there are G3 400MHz cards for ~US$100, if you do some more shopping.
However, I  still favor the XLR8 brand.
