I've been lurking on this list for a week or two while I've tried, without success, to get my Mac up and running. I've therefore had to resort to writing the group on my PEECEE. I had a SuperMac J700 for many years. My ex got it and I got to keep the P.C. I went into serious MAC withdrawal and bought a refurbed PowerMac 7300/180 from MacResq which I set up a few weeks ago, and it had been running fine. I've added (2) 64 mb dimms to the original 16 and 2 USB ports. Most recently I upgraded from 8.6 to OS 9.1, and it was still doing OK. I had been working on it, though I can't remember exactly what program I was using when I stopped for dinner. When I returned about an hour later the screen was black. I'm not using a screen saver, and really can't remember how I set the energy saver options. I believe that I had them deactivated as I had been downloading some program upgrades. Anyhow no key strokes would bring the screen to life, nor did I have any success trying to start it from the OS 9.1 CD or from the Norton Utilities Disk. I can hear the clicking as the hard drive boots up and have most often been able to shutdown with the key at the far top right of the key board and enter. At one time an alert message was read about a hard drive error and asking if I wanted Norton Disk Doctor to fix it. I hit enter at that time and things whirred and clicked, but I still have a black screen. The monitor checked out OK, when hooked up to my PC.
Any suggestions would be much appreciated. Thanks. Nancy Jennings Stuart, Florida -- PCI-PowerMacs is sponsored by <http://lowendmac.com/> and...
