Good Point! Sorry, I didn't leave much to be answered, thankyou very much
for pointing that out. I hook up through high speed cable, dynamic IP
addressing. TCP/IP on the Mac is set up for DHCP server. The Mac is hooked
to a switch that is in turn hooked to a peecee running ICS (internet
connection sharing) from Win XP. All the peecee's on the netwrok run fine. I
installed a SMC 9432tx card (10/100) in the Mac, the switch is reporting a
100mb connection on all peecees and the Mac. I've even tried hooking the Mac
straight to the cable modem, to no avail.

Web pages are loading at a decent rate, as fast as I could expect on a
100mhz, but the dl'n is still at an average of 545bits/sec. I have tried
many sites that I am sure support faster downloading, like apple.com, ect. I
even went to a local FTP site that shells out 50k to each user, still
545bits/sec.

I know I must be missing something, maybe auto-negotiating on the switch? I
thought was what made switches faster, I dunno. So with that info maybe
there is someone out there that knows whats wrong. Thanx a lot, Mike
