I'm seeing a very similar problem on my 7300 with a 500 MHz G3 ZIF and an XLR8 carrier card. It won't restart no way, no how--but cold starts just fine. I'm also losing TCP/IP prefs on startups and I'm seeing some strange type 10 errors on one of my daughter's games.
I tried all the various cuda/pram reset machinations and even resorted to that most powerful of incantations--replacing the logic board battery! All to no avail.
