Alan, yes there was a Q/A here or G4 about 2-3 months back on the freezing technique. (knew I should'a saved it) IIR C ... put the BARE drive in a zip lock bag. squeeze/fold as much air out of bag as you can, then seal. even wrap some tape around bag to keep compressed. (this all is to eliminate condensation in/on drive). Into freezer at least over nite. Have everything laid out ready to go as R.A. said. The thread agreed you most likely had one shot at it, maybe ... There were other tips to use while the drive was running to keep it cool, like a fan directed at it , setting on plastic on ice, putting in small cooler. Seems the idea is to keep the metal parts contracted/less friction ... Sorry the rest is fuzzy.
