I have been given a second chance on my Epson 900; at the time I decided to buy a replacement plan through Office Max and worried whether generic cartridges would void my warranty but they didn't ask, so I didn't say I was using generic cartridges. After playing around for about a hour, it was decided that I should have a new Epson 900. He seemed to think my heads were bad. So I wonder if using generic cartridges was actually part of the problem and did ruin the heads. Any opinions? I'm inclined not to use them now but they are so cheap, it is hard to resist them.
As we discussed before that ink was splattering on the rollers which would put various marks on the paper. From the many responses, getting various marks on the paper seems to be common. One of the odd things when talking to the Epson rep was that I could not get the cartridge to line up, so that it could not be removed. It is basically designed to only remove the cartridges when the ink is out; although I was able to do it before. This is when he decided to just send me a new Epson 900. I'm not sure I would buy another Epson, as it is difficult to do anything to it once you have problems. It's a great printer when it works but just don't have problems or have a good warranty. Unlike, HP or even Cannon where you can remove the heads. I'm always good for picking up older computers both Mac and PC to see if I can get them working as a hobby, especially if you only get them for a couple of bucks or better yet, free. I've been able to fix a few HP's that I got for a couple of bucks that didn't work. Although, I've picked up some older Epson Color Stylus which were made around 1995 and still worked. I also have a 740 that I picked up and worked fine. I've picked up a few Epson 800 which seem common and they all have problems which can't be fixed. In this model, the problems were that the carriage wouldn't move over enough. A friend at work has this model and the same thing happened. -- Pittsburgh, PA. 15237 backup e-mail :[EMAIL PROTECTED] Specs: Beige G3 DT w/Motorola ZIF 466mhz processor running 9.2.2, OS 10.2, w/ 544MB RAM rev B rom. -- PCI-PowerMacs is sponsored by <http://lowendmac.com/> and...
