I've had an Epson 740 for almost 3 years now, and, aside from the initial cartridged, I've been using a "private brand" of ink. Up here (Canada) "Ko-Rec-Type" is considered a genuine brand of printer products, and is usually priced around 50% less than the equivalent Epson, HP or whatever. Nary a problem with them, and print quality is always fine, even if the printer hasn't been used for 2 weeks.
