Hello, I want to thank everyone for the overwhelming response to my problems with my external drive that my computer wouldn't recognize. The answer turned out to be simple and unexpected. One of the connectors on the HD is apparently dead and it was the one I tried first. I decided to try the other one, and it worked! I can't imagine why one connector is not working. Using FWB I could mount the drive. My problem, now is partitioning. The seller wrote that he initialized the drive by using Apple Drive Setup v 1.7.2 and formatted it as Apple Extended (HFS+). However, when I follow the instructions in the FWB booklet on resizing a volume I find that it only applies to Mac OS Standard volumes. Do I have to reformat the drive to allow sizing in the Mac OS Extended volumes? Thanks
