AFAIK, there are OS X drivers available for USB 2.0. Several cards 
include drivers for OS X, but the last I heard there are no 9 drivers, 
or plans to make them.

USB, IMHO, is a piece of trash except for the fact that it's backward 
compatible with USB 1.1 at slow speeds, and USB 2.0 cards will work 
with USB 1.1 devices. Firewire is a much better high-speed interface- 
it provides 15w of power, much more useful for portables. Speed 
difference isn't that great either.
