I have managed to run quite a few models of DEC SCSI drives in/on various Macs
without any problems other than some DEC drives give off quite a bit of heat.
DEC has out-sourced drives from Frame Inc., Compaq (who bought then out), IBM,
Maxtor and others. Granted they aren't the best drives around (probably low
bid) but they do work.
No problems with Fujitsu either. Both will work as boot drives. In fact, I
haven't yet come across a SCSI drive that I could not get to work in/on a
Mac. FWB drivers work very well as do SpeedTools drivers.
